Organisation
The «Quartieridee» was initiated by Nextzürich and Urban Equipe. These two associations make up the organising institutions of the project.
The Urban Equipe is responsible for the project management and communication. Nextzürich supports the project, i.e. at the ideation meet-ups or the walks. Furthermore, various actors are involved and support the project at specific events: for example Architecture for Refugees Switzerland, the Bahnhofreisebüro Wipkingen, the reformed parish Kreis 10, the Waidhalde school, the Garte über de Gleis, the Climate Strike Zürich, the group Wipkingen für’s Klima, the meeting point Nordliecht, Filmfluss, the Park-Platz, the association UmverkehR, the OJA Kreis 6 and Wipkingen, Rhodia, the Tanzhaus, the Agentur für Gehkultur lerjentours, the Tischfussballclub Wipkingen, the Kiosque at Röschibachplatz, the GZ Wipkingen and the Quartierverein Wipkingen. The district magazine Kreis10.ch is the media partner of the pilot project.
The Smart City Team of Office of Urban Development Zurich is accompanying and supporting the «Quartieridee». The adjustments of the open source platform «Decidim» to the local conditions were made by the company Puzzle ITC. The graphics and design are by Kabeljau. The evaluation of the pilot project is carried out by Stiftung Risiko Dialog.
The project is financed by Stadtentwicklung Zürich, E-Government Switzerland, Schweizerische Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft and (via Urban Equipe) by Engagement Migros.

Brief descriptions
Nextzürich wants all city dwellers to be able to participate in the organisation and design of their city. Therefore, Nextzürich is busy collecting your ideas and uses them to develop new concepts, work on novel formats of mediation, organizes events, creates games, takes care of interim uses, hosts online idea platforms and often acts as an interface between the city and its population. Nextzürich was founded in 2013 as an independent, non-commercial association and has around 20 volunteers.
Urban Equipe is a non-profit association. It aims to create opportunities and equipment for city dwellers who want to inform themselves and participate in the development of their cities. Urban Equipe is convinced that only polyvalent, accessible and adaptive cities are sustainable. Such cities develop neither top-down, nor bottom-up, but are rather created through the convening and collaboration of city dwellers, planning offices, politicians and the city’s administration. In this context, Urban Equipe wants to support and strengthen civic parties in their commitment by developing urban equipment. Urban Equipe is supported by Engagement Migros, the development fund of the Migros Group.
Office of Urban Development Zurich
The Office of Urban Development Zurich is part of the city’s presidential department. Their commitment is carried out within the framework of the strategy focus “Testing Smart Participation”. The strategy focus combines the demand for participation of the population and interest groups with the challenges of urban growth and technological change. Both the Smart City Team, as well as the society and space division are involved in the project monitoring.
